Sheldon Council Set To Award Contract For New Water Tower At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets in regular session Wednesday, October 5th, they’re scheduled to hold a pair of public hearings.

Both public hearings deal with the new water tower which is planned for the area of 16th Street and Country Club Road. The first hearing will concern the pipeline project in that area, while the second will deal with the new water tower planned for that location. Following the public hearings, it’s expected that the Council will accept the bids and award the contract for the projects.

In other action, the Council is scheduled to hold the 2nd reading of the amended fireworks ordinance. At that time, the Council will approve the 2nd reading, then opt to either move the ordinance along to a 3rd reading, or suspend the 3rd reading and pass the amendment directly into law.

The Sheldon City Council is also expected to consider a Tax Increment Financing proposal for Family Dollar, for construction of a new store at 909 Park Street, the former location of Digital Plus.

Wednesday’s meeting will be called to order at 4:30 pm in Council Chambers of the Sheldon Community Services Center. The meeting is open to the public, but if you’re unable to attend in person, you can watch the live video feed via YouTube Live.
