This year marks the first harvest season that some local farms are legally permitted to grow adult-use cannabis.
13WHAM got a close look Monday at how a local vegetable farm is benefiting from a newly legalized industry.
"This farm was growing vegetables, this farm was making food — organic food — only three months ago, and you can see now they’ve been able to incorporate a new crop into the rotation to supplement their income and continue to grow food and provide food for their community," said Damian Fagon, chief equity officer for the Office of Cannabis Management. "You can do both."
More than 200 farmers across the state are currently licensed to grow adult-use cannabis. Retail dispensaries are expected to open in the state later this year.
