SAN ANTONIO – After 50 years of creating fabulous costumes for many locals, Starline Costumes will provide Halloween costumes one last time for San Antonio. Julie Keck owner of the Starline Costumes shop announces her retirement and is closing the store early next year.

Starline Costumes was a local favorite and was always there to provide us with the perfect costume each year. Keck says that her mother opened the store in 1972 and she took over around the 1980s. The shop was mostly aimed at adults and the theatre world. It has provided costumes for many generations and throughout many significant holidays.

Keck says she will miss her customers the most and that it's hard to let go, but a 50-year run is a good run and it's time for her to retire.

Starline Costumes has been the home to many iconic local characters we all know and love such as the puffy taco, the UTSA Roadrunner, the UIW Cardinal, and the most iconic of them all the Spurs Coyote. Starline Costumes has been designing the coyote for about 38 years.

Keck says she plans on donating a large number of costumes to local schools.

“Our family is very grateful to our customers and to the San Antonio community for the many decades of support. It has been our pleasure to serve as a source of inspiration for your theatrical productions, plays, parties, and corporate needs. We’ve loved serving multiple generations of customers, hearing your stories, and seeing all the pictures you’ve shared with us. It has made all our efforts worth it, thank you!” Starline Costumes shared on their Facebook.

But the good news about this is that costumes and accessories will be on sale for an incredible price, just in time for Halloween. The shop says that their entire selection of high-quality rentals will be on sale for nearly the same price as a single rental.

So, if you’re not sure what to go as this Halloween, you better hurry and head over to Starline Costumes, because they are not restocking.

Starline Costumes is located at 1286 Bandera Road and is open Tuesday through Saturday.
