Week of events planned in Flagstaff ahead of Women's March

People march around the Arizona Capitol during last year's annual nationwide Women's March on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in Phoenix.

A variety of events supporting reproductive rights are scheduled throughout the week as part of Women's Wave Flagstaff, including a drag show and door-to-door canvassing in addition to a nationwide march on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Those interested in getting involved are invited to a Women's March poetry slam on Wednesday night followed by Friday's "The Art of Change," where organizers ensure that participants will use "art as catharsis for attacks on bodily autonomy."

The first of two canvassing sessions will start at 9 a.m. Saturday before the march takes off at 12:30 p.m. from the Northern Arizona University student union at 1050 Knoles Drive. The march will culminate with a rally at 2 p.m. on the lawn of Flagstaff City Hall at 211 W. Aspen Ave.

After the march and before another round of canvassing the next morning, there will be a Drag Out the Vote drag show at 7 p.m. at NAU's Dubois Center Ballroom at 306 E. Pine Knoll Drive.
