Hunger Task Force and Johnson Controls are teaming up for the 17th year to kick off the 2022 Food For Families holiday drive from Oct. 1 – Dec. 31.
The first Food For Families drive was launched more than 40 years ago to reduce hunger during the holiday season in partnership with Johnson Controls.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson proclaimed October 1 to be Food for Families day thought Milwaukee.
"The Hunger Task Force has been such an incredible partner addressing issues not just at poverty but hunger in our community. Hunger Task Force encourages local businesses, schools, and congregations to host virtual food drives and make cash and food donations to support hungry families during the holiday season," said Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
Johnson Controls announced in a statement that the Milwaukee pantry traffic has steadily increased throughout the year to over 31,000 people each month.
"The unfortunate truth is that 30% of children right here in our community, live in poverty and go to bed hungry with rising food costs and other essentials," said Brenna Holly, Senior Director of Corporate Philanthropy at Johnson Controls.
These are some of the ways anyone can help Food For Families:
- You can host a virtual food drive.
- You can pick up a food drive box at the Hunger Taskforce and ask your community to help donate food.
- You can volunteer by putting food items in a food drive box.
- You can also go directly to the Hunger Taskforce and donate food.
