Latin Fashion Week Colorado hits five years
Friday. As National Hispanic Heritage Month passes its halfway point (it continues through Oct. 15), the fifth Latin Fashion Week Colorado is just revving up. The showcase of international designers returns on Friday, Sept. 23, at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum — a fittingly lofty environment for these 14 diverse creatives.
Designers from across the Latino diaspora — Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, México, Venezuela and Colombia — will present their creations on the runway, said founder and organizer Norberto “Beto” Mojardin. 7711 E. An oak-centric lager festival
Saturday. Although Cerebral Brewing is known mostly for its hazy IPAs and barrel-aged adjunct stouts, the brewery also makes lagers, like pilsner, helles and Baltic porter. To give these lagers a twist, Cerebral typically ages them in large wooden vessels, called foeders, which can impart a touch of oak and a mellow roundness to the way the beers taste and feel.
To highlight these beers, Cerebral is hosting its first Foeder Lager Fest on Saturday, Sept. 24. “This oak-centric event will feature a variety of barrel-aged and foeder-fermented lagers spanning many styles,” the brewery said, adding that there will also be non-foeder-aged lagers like its recently released Festbier. Plus, expect lager-friendly food pairings from Lady in the Wild Food Truck and German-style pretzels from XLVII Bakery. Bandaloop free performance, mini-fest
Thursday. The esteemed Newman Center for the Performing Arts will kick off its dance series for the 2022-2023 artistic season on Thursday, Sept. 29, with a free performance by aerial dance company Bandaloop. The Newman Center Presents season heralds a whole mess of great touring names, such as Pilobilus, ArtistiCO, A.I.M by Kyle Abraham and the Paul Taylor Dance Company.
The Bandaloop event is a bit of a festival, with events starting at 4:30 p.m. “The outside walls of the University of Denver will feature members of Bandaloop seamlessly weaving dynamic physicality with intricate choreography,” producers said of the death-defying dancers. Food trucks join diverse local artistic groups such as Playground Ensemble, Presenting Denver, Control Group Productions and DU’s Lamont School of Music. Pizza pop-up unites tasty locals
Sunday. The new Run Westy Run food truck park in Westminster will bring together some of Colorado’s best pizza purveyors and other vendors for the Colorado Pizza Pop Up, a fundraiser and festival benefiting nonprofits that fight food insecurities and domestic violence. The pizzerias on hand include Audrey Jane’s Pizza Garage in Boulder, Blue Pan Pizza, Simply Pizza, the Pizza bandit and more. There also will be live music, DJs and outdoor games.
