Woman hit by WeGo Star train, transported to hospital in critical condition

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A woman was transported to the hospital after she was hit by a WeGo Star train Wednesday afternoon.

Metro dispatch says the woman was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital in critical condition. She was hit around 5 p.m. Wednesday at a crossing on Anthes Drive downtown, per dispatch.

WeGo provided FOX 17 News with the following statement:

Earlier this evening, a female pedestrian walked around the safety arms near Anthes Dr. and onto the tracks where was struck by the WeGo Star. Paramedics arrived at the scene and have transported her to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Passengers on the train are being transported to their destinations via WeGo buses while the train remains in place pending an investigation of the scene.
