NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environment Management is opening up two state beaches ahead of this weekend’s heat.

Scarborough North and Roger Williams beaches, both in Narragansett, will be opened up a week prior to Memorial Day weekend.

The Department of Environment Management said this has been done the last several years, and coincides with hot temperatures circulating 90 degrees inland.

Officials said amenities at both beaches will be in full service, with parking $7 for state residents and $14 for non-residents.

Earlier in the day, the department also issued an air quality alert, saying it is expected to reach unhealthy levels.
