Woman found dead in garbage truck

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A woman was found dead around 7:15 a.m. Thursday at an Amarillo, Texas waste garbage facility. Amarillo is about nine hours from Houston.

Police confirmed that the body was found in a garbage truck at the City of Amarillo solid waste collection plant.

Crime scene investigators and Amarillo Police Department's Homicide Unit were spotted in the area as well.

KVII crews also saw a garbage collection truck with the back open and crime scene tape roping it off.

The woman has been identified, but the next of kin has not been notified.

It is not yet clear if police suspect foul play.
