When the rock star was forced to end his musical career, he shifted his mission in life: Animal and environmental conservation. That mission brought him Thursday to Pittsburgh. Lewis isn't the only celebrity associated with a new film playing at the Carnegie Science Center. Oscar-nominated actor and western Pennsylvania native Michael Keaton narrates the film. “This is important stuff, conservation, and I'm just hoping people will see it, because then they'll care about it, and we only protect things we care about,” Lewis told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.“Wings over Water” was made with help from Ducks Unlimited and the Mellon Foundation and features music by Lewis. The film focuses on the Prairie Wetlands, also called Pot Hole Wetlands, home to 70% of birds in North America. This singer-turned-environmental advocate hopes we all find the power of love for the planet.“The good news is we're supposed to be smart, and if we're smart, we'll save Mother Earth, and by doing that save our own existence as well,” Lewis said. PITTSBURGH — You may know the famous musician Huey Lewis from his albums and his days of touring with Huey Lewis and the News.
“This is important stuff, conservation, and I'm just hoping people will see it, because then they'll care about it, and we only protect things we care about,” Lewis told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4.
“Wings over Water” was made with help from Ducks Unlimited and the Mellon Foundation and features music by Lewis. The film focuses on the Prairie Wetlands, also called Pot Hole Wetlands, home to 70% of birds in North America.
This singer-turned-environmental advocate hopes we all find the power of love for the planet.
“The good news is we're supposed to be smart, and if we're smart, we'll save Mother Earth, and by doing that save our own existence as well,” Lewis said.
