Howmet Aerospace has canceled its job fair scheduled for May 21 following a fatal shooting on May 14 at the Hampton facility.

The company plans to host a job fair 3-6 p.m. May 24 at the plant at One Howmet Drive.

Paul Erwin, senior communications manager for Howmet Aerospace, said the company is 100% focused on making sure its employees are doing all right and everything is restarted safely.

“As we start to get back into the swing of things, we’ll have our job fair on Tuesday,” Erwin said.

The producer of castings for aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines has 850 employees at its Hampton location and another 200 open positions — 175 production roles and 35 support staff.

The company shut down operations for two days following, according to court documents, a deadly fight within the building between two co-workers.
