Trish Neely elected to lead Tallahassee's League of Women Voters

Special to the Tallahassee Democrat
Trish Neely is the incoming president of the League of Women Voters of Tallahassee.

Trish Neely has been elected to take the helm of the League of Women Voters of Tallahassee, succeeding outgoing President Sally Butzin. Along with Butzin, Neely has played a major role in the League's voter education and get-out-the vote efforts. She will serve through April 30, 2023.

Neely previously was a member of the LWVT board of directors and chaired its Lobby Corps and Membership Committees. She has also held leadership positions with the Florida League of Women Voters. Neely told League members she plans to put the skills honed during her 30-year career in various corporate management and executive leadership positions to work in her new role.

Elected to serve along with Neely were new officers Katie Bohnett, vice president; Kathy Winn, secretary; and Anne Newman, treasurer. Elected to the Board of Directors for two-year terms were Christine Coble, Sabrina Hartley, and Barry Munroe. Also elected to the board were Margaret Boeth and Meta Calder, who will serve the remaining terms of Neely and Bohnett.

Current board member Danielle Irwin will continue through April 30, 2023. Butzin will serve as a non-voting member in her role as past president. Appointed members of the board are Dr. Marianne Arbulu, Beverly Fogarty-Pagel, Sandra Kendall, and Ayasha Scott.

Protecting voter rights by opposing efforts to restrict voter access will continue to be a League priority in the coming year, Neely said. The organization will also continue its nonpartisan education and advocacy efforts on behalf of a variety of issues coming before the Legislature and local government.

In the lead-up to the August primary elections, the LWVT has voter registration and education tables at the Tallahassee Downtown Market, as well as the Southside Farmer’s Market. More information is available at lwvtallahassee.org.
