HUSKER BASEBALL EARNS VICTORY OVER GOLDEN EAGLES:

The Husker offense produced two three-run innings in the first three innings on Tuesday night, as the Huskers posted a 9-5 win over Oral Roberts at Hawks Field.

Nebraska (21-29) totaled nine runs on 14 hits and an error, while the Golden Eagles (33-17) had five runs on 10 hits.

Dawson McCarville made his 11th start of the season, improving to 4-5. McCarville tossed five innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out five ORU batters.

After allowing three first-inning runs, McCarville blanked Oral Roberts in the next four innings to help the Huskers maintain an 8-3 lead after five innings.

The Huskers will stay home to take on Michigan State starting on Thursday in a three game series.

NEBRASKA MEN’S BASKETBALL ADDS SMU TRANSFER:

The Nebraska men’s basketball team added another experienced scorer to the Husker roster with the signing of SMU grad transfer Emmanuel Bandoumel on Tuesday.

Bandoumel, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard from Quebec City, Quebec, was a three-year starter at SMU. He started the last 64 games for the Mustangs dating back to the 2019-20 campaign. A double-figure scorer in each of the last two seasons, Bandoumel helped the Mustangs to a combined 54-26 record with two postseason appearances in his three years in the program. He will have one year of eligibility at Nebraska.

Last season, Bandoumel started all 33 games for the Mustangs, who went 24-9 and reached the second round of the 2022 NIT. He averaged 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, reaching double figures in 18 games.

LOPER T&F SENDS NINE TO MICHIGAN FOR NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIP:

The Nebraska-Kearney track and field team has qualified six men and three women for the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships May 26-28 in Allendale, Mich.

Grand Valley State is hosting this event for a second straight year at the GVSU Track & Field Stadium. The complete schedule (note Eastern times) is available; fans not in attendance can follow along via live results and a live video stream.

Fremont sophomore Wes Ferguson will try and win another 800-meter national title. He placed first at indoors (1:50.05) and has the nation’s third best outdoor time at 1:47.80.

Next, Kearney sophomore high jumper Brayden Sorensen was third a year ago in Allendale and is looking for his fourth All-American honor.

Ferguson and McCool Junction redshirt junior Luke Stuckey have previously earned two All-American honors (first-team top eight; second-team places nine through 12) with O’Neill sophomore Abby Everitt tying for 12th in the high jump last spring. Stuckey will run the 1,500 prelims on Thursday
