The South Carolina supreme court heard Sidney Moorer's appeal on Tuesday.

Moorer is trying to overturn his 2017 conviction for obstruction of justice in the Heather Elvis case. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison six years after her death in 2013.

Moorer's attorney argued that lying didn't obstruct justice and he was actually correcting some of what the investigators were alleging.

The state’s attorney argued it did obstruct justice and Moorer tried to mislead the investigation intentionally.

The supreme court justices said they will file a decision when they're ready.

Tammy Moorer was also convicted of kidnapping and is appealing her conviction.

In December of 2013, Heather Elvis was first reported missing and authorities spent days searching the Waccamaw River and other parts of Horry County.

Eventually, Sidney and Tammy Moorer were charged with her kidnapping in 2014.

Elvis' body has never been found.
