Dario Rock, St. Francis: Rock will be among the favorites Saturday in the 110-meter hurdles at the Masters Meet at Moorpark High School. Masters is the qualifier for next week’s CIF State Track and Field Championships. This past weekend, Rock won the CIF-SS Division 3 title in the 110 hurdles in 14.54 seconds. His personal best time is 14.49. “It felt OK,” Rock said of his win. “I felt like I had more in the tank. I hit a few hurdles and it felt like a dirty race for me. That’s not like me, since usually I have a pretty clean race. But it was good I was able to win. My parents were CIF champs back in the day, and it feels good to carry on the family legacy.”

Vernon Abuy, Carson: Abuy recorded 27 kills and 17 digs to lead Carson to a victory over Marshall in the City Section Division I championship game, 25-19, 20-25, 25-27, 25-20, 16-14.

Max Thomas, Servite: He won the 100- and 200-meter Division 3 races at the CIF Southern Section Track and Field Finals with two of the fastest times in Orange County history. Thomas won the 100 in a wind-aided 10.35 seconds, the fourth-best time under all conditions in county history. He followed with a county-record 20.68 in the 200 to complete winning championships in both CIF-SS Division 3 races for the second year in a row. Thomas, who signed with USC, will compete Saturday in the CIF-SS Masters Meet which is the qualifying meet for the CIF State Championships.

Dylan Goff, Etiwanda: Goff tossed six scoreless innings and struck out four batters to help the Eagles to a 10-0 victory over Garden Grove Pacifica in a Division 2 quarterfinal game. Goff allowed only two hits in the game, a pair of singles in the third inning, and he worked out of jams in the third and fourth innings to keep Pacifica off the scoreboard. Goff is 10-0 with a 0.77 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 73 innings over 12 starts.

Devin Bragg, Los Alamitos: Bragg ran the 100 meters in 10.35 seconds to win the Division 1 title at the CIF Southern Section Track and Field Finals. His time qualified him for the Masters Meet on Saturday at Moorpark High School, where Bragg could qualify for the CIF State Track and Field Meet on May 27-28 in Clovis. The freshman sprinter also ran a blistering first leg on the Los Alamitos boys 4×100 relay, which finished second in the Division 1 final with a time of 41.86. That time qualified the Griffins as one of the fastest teams heading into the Masters Meet, which will give Bragg another opportunity to make the CIF State meet.
