A 25-year-old Austin woman faces charges of reckless homicide, reckless driving and false informing for her role in a January 24 traffic accident that killed a Jefferson County woman.

Cheyenne Elizabeth Paige Taylor was arrested by Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies at her West Cherry Street residence. She was booked into Scott County Jail at 3:15 p.m. last Wednesday, May 10

At about 6:15 a.m. on Jan. 24 Scott County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to State Road 256 near Bethlehem Road in northeastern Scott County reference a two vehicle crash that resulted in the death of Karena Monroe, 51 of Lexington.

Taylor, and Keanan Vaughn. a passenger in her westbound Chevrolet Camaro, were transported to U of L Hospital.

According to deputies, it is alleged Taylor ran two eastbound cars off of the roadway before crashing into the Monroe’s Ford Edge.  Investigators are seeking help from the public in identifying the two alleged drivers who were ran off of the roadway by Taylor as she was passing other motorists prior to the crash.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit filed in the case by Scott County Sheriff’s Detective Jacklyn Colwell Shofner, she reported that Taylor told them there were no other vehicles on the roadway and she did not pass any vehicles. Taylor claims that she was traveling 55-56 mph before the crash and that the eastbound Monroe vehicle crossed the center line striking her westbound vehicle head-on.

According to the court document, earlier this month the Indiana State Police Traffic Reconstruction report was completed and concluded that Taylor was traveling between 76-78 mph with no braking before the impact of collision. The ISP report stated the head-on impact occurred in the eastbound lane of State Road 256, according to the probable cause

Taylor is currently being held on Scott County Jail on a $65,000 bond, set by Circuit Court Judge Jason Mount.
