WV High School Softball: Several area teams are moving on to the State Tournament

The West Virginia High School State Softball Tournament will take place next Wednesday and Thursday at Little Creek Park in Charleston and several area teams have already landed berths.

On Tuesday evening, Lincoln County won the Class AAA Region IV title with a second straight win over Ripley.

In Class AA, four-time defending state champion Herbert Hoover moved on with a Region III title victory over Philip Barbour.

Also in Class AA, Winfield advanced with a seventh straight win as they downed Scott in the best-of-three Region IV Tournament.

St. Albans won its first game in the Class AAA Region III Tournament against Greenbrier East.

Wahama, the defending Class A title winners, got regional play off to a good start with a win over Man.
