Groundbreaking for major East Ridge development

EAST RIDGE, Tennessee (WDEF) – The new East Ridge development is called The Gateway — it sits directly next to the Chattanooga Red Wolves’ CHI Memorial Stadium. It is 110 acres consisting of town homes – shops – offices and restaurants.

Developer Bob Martino and East Ridge Mayor Brian Williams broke ground on the developments first commercial site — “Nooga Live” which will include a whiskey bar and a spot for live music

“We just broke ground on the residential town homes and there will be a 144 of those in the first phase, more to come. But then we’re also, this ground breaking here is the first commercial element that we’re introducing. There’s a lot more coming to this. It’ll be a real fun environment to come hang out whether there’s a game or whether you’re just coming out for a weekend or a weeknight.

The project is expected to bring in at least 1000 local jobs.

“It is the largest development we have in the history of east ridge and probably second in Hamilton county. The economic impacts as i mentioned in the ground breaking, we’re looking at we’re expecting a million dollars – no – a billion dollars economic development over the completion of – a 30 year full build out of phase one. Over a thousand plus local jobs.”

Mayor Wilson said is developments like this one that are turning East Ridge into a destination — the development is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
