The El Paso County Sheriff's Office held its 5th annual county law enforcement memorial ceremony.

The event happened Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the El Paso County Sheriff's Office headquarters located at 3850 Justice Drive.

The ceremony was to honor law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty and to commemorate National Law Enforcement Memorial Week.

I personally know some of the names that are on that wall. It is important for us to remember them," said Robert Rojas, commander of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office criminal investigations division. “We are here for them [the county]. We are here to make sure they can go on about their lives and do so in a safe manner.

“Law enforcement is a very difficult profession and we men and women every day step up to the plate. I understand what [law enforcement] go through every day,” said El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles.

“We are here to serve [the county] and service with pride," said Rojas.
