Huge fire in Jefferson County; 5 townhomes damaged

JEFFERSON Co., Ala. (WBRC) - Firefighters from Rocky Ridge Fire, Vestavia Hills Fire and more battled a huge townhome fire in Jefferson County off Acton Road Tuesday afternoon.

Hoover Fire, Birmingham Fire, Vestavia Hills and Hoover Police also assisted in fighting the fire.

The fire started after 3:00 p.m. in the 2500 block of Acton Park Lane. Firefighters said the report came in of fire on a back porch.

No one was hurt.

At least five townhomes on the street had some type of damage.

The fire was brought under control after about 90 minutes. No word on how it started.

Traffic was backed up on Acton Road as crews worked to put out the fire.
