SAN JOSE — A two-alarm fire left two residents and a firefighter injured Tuesday morning at a two-story apartment building in San Jose, according to officials.

Fire crews responded to the call about 9:55 a.m. in the 1500 block of Fitchville Avenue, according to San Jose Fire Department social media posts. It was placed under control about two hours later.

One person was taken to a hospital with burn injuries and a firefighter was hospitalized with a non-burn-related injury, authorities said. Another person had unspecified injuries that did not require hospitalization, officials said. A cat was also rescued.

Of the six units in the impacted building, three had significant damage to the attic and second floor.

The Red Cross was requested to help find temporary housing for three people from two different apartment units. The unit where the fire started was vacant and under construction.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, officials said.
