Homicide Suspect On The Run For A Year Wanted By Miami-Dade Police

Miami-Dade police hope the public can help them find Joshua Campos, a 20-year-old man wanted for a fatal shooting in 2021.

MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade police issued a plea to the public, hoping someone might offer tips to the whereabouts of a homicide suspect who's been on the run for about a year.

Joshua Campos, 20, of Miami is accused of killing Demetrius Harris, 26. Police said the killing took place Sunday, July 25, 2021 around 5:21 p.m. in the area of Hidden Groove Apartments, which is located at 13822 SW 270 St. in Miami.

Prior to the shooting, police said Harris was arguing with Campos' 19-year-old girlfriend, Maxine McCord, and her family members in the courtyard of the apartment complex.

At some point, police said Campos exited his apartment and shot Harris. He then fled the scene with McCord abruptly, leaving their 1-year-old baby with family members.

McCord is wanted for questioning and is believed to be with Campos.

Investigators said they do not know if McCord is being held against her will.

Campos is considered armed and dangerous, police said. Anyone who sees him should use extreme caution, officers warned.
