Bradley Schaffer Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision on North Craycroft Road

TUCSON, AZ (May 18, 2022) – Friday morning, Rhett Wilbur was pronounced dead after a hit-and-run on East Sunrise Drive.

The fatal incident occurred around 6:30 a.m., near North Craycroft Road on May 13.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a passing vehicle struck Wilbur and fled the scene.

Despite life-saving efforts, medical personnel later pronounced 52-year-old Wilbur dead at the scene.

In addition, officer took 35-year-old Bradley Schaffer into custody after locating a damaged vehicle in the area.

According to reports, police charged Schaffer with hit-and-run and driving under the influence. Officers later booked him into the Pima County jail.

Crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
