Work doesn’t always have to take place within office walls, and research shows that spending time outside can make us more creative + productive, less stressed, and happier in general.

Without further ado, here’s 8 local spots where you can work outside while getting a healthy dose of vitamin D.

☕ If you need your caffeine fix

Be Caffeinated, 14 W. Kent St. | At Be Caffeinated’s Northshore location, you can choose to work from two covered patios — the screens are open for you to enjoy the warm air.

Niedlov’s Bakery & Café, 215 E. Main St. | Grab your coffee + pastry and work outside on the patio. Pro tip: There’s a couple of outlets along the wall, but if you get a table by the fountain in the center, there’s an extra plug-in at the base of the structure.

Mean Mug Coffeehouse, 114 W. Main St. | At Mean Mug’s Southside location, you can sit outside on the private patio. (It almost feels like you’re in a secret garden.)

Velo Coffee Roasters, 509 E. Main St. | Sip on your coffee — we recommend trying a coffee soda on warm days — and work on the patio that has plenty of seating available. Bonus: if you bike to this spot, they have a wall rack inside the patio for you to hang your bike.

Stone Cup Café, 208 Frazier Ave. | If you want a great view of Coolidge Park, the Tennessee River, and downtown’s iconic bridges, this café’s patio is the perfect spot for you.

📶 Take advantage of free wifi

Miller Plaza + Park, 850 Market St. | Lay out a blanket in the grass or sit at one of the tables at the plaza to work outside in the middle of downtown.

Coolidge Park, 150 River St. | Find a spot to work in this seven-acre park along the Tennessee River to get your nature fix.

Tennessee Aquarium + Plaza, 1 Broad St. | Sit beside the fountains or river steps for a breath of fresh air, and maybe say hello to Miguel Wattson on your lunch break.

Bonus: They don’t call Chattanooga the Gig City for nothing — check out this list for more free wifi hotspots in the area.
