76-Year-Old Woman Dies in Traffic Accident near Harrison Avenue

FRESNO, CA (May 17, 2022) – Thursday evening, 76-year-old Abelina Ortiz-De Garcia died in a pedestrian crash on McKinley Avenue.

Officials said the female pedestrian was struck around 7:45 a.m., while crossing McKinley Avenue near Harrison Avenue.

Furthermore, the driver told police that they failed to notice the pedestrian. Consequently, the vehicle dragged the victim resulting in her significant injuries.

Moreover, investigators said Ortiz-De Garcia was not inside a marked crosswalk when the accident happened. Following preliminary duties, officers do not suspect alcohol or drugs as potential factors in the crash.

Crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties.
