School City of Mishawaka Superintendent Wayne Barker says he will resign as head of the school district on June 8, 2022, to be effective on June 30, 2022.

Barker announced his intention to the school board recently, giving the school system two and a half weeks’ notice of the possibility.

School City of Mishawaka Board President Holly Parks said in a release, “We are appreciative Mr. Barker made us aware of this possibility nearly two and a half weeks ago. This has enabled the SCM Board of School Trustees to develop a plan to consider who should lead the district going forward. As such, tomorrow afternoon we will release information as to who that candidate will be, along with a timeline for that process to be finalized. We are excited for the future, and remain committed to serving the children and families of our school community.”

In the release, Barker said he is leaving to become superintendent of Northwest Allen County Schools.
