Deputies searching for man wanted for fatal east Travis County shooting

A man was shot and killed Monday night in east Travis County -- and deputies are asking for help in locating the suspect.

The shooting happened in the 4000 block of Lower Drive, in a small neighborhood south of FM 969 near the intersection with Imperial Drive.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office says at around 7:35 p.m. deputes responded to a 9-1-1 call that someone had been shot. When they arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound.

TCSO says after interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence it, they believe this is an isolated incident and the people involved knew each other.

A suspect has been identified as 50-year-old Michael Lance Arendt, of California. He was last seen driving a 2019 Suzuki motorcycle with California license plate 24P1575. The motorcycle is white with blue Supermoto wheels and Akrapovic exhaust. It has a "Hoonigan" sticker on the front cowl. He was traveling with his dog (pit bull).

The sheriff's office says he may be trying to flee the state.

Anyone who sees Arendt is asked to call 911 immediately and not attempt to engage him as he may be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the TCSO Tip Line at 512-854-1444 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS (8477).
