The intersection of Central Avenue and 56th Street West is closed to construct a new roundabout on the road. The closure is estimated to take about a month. Those who use this road regularly are asked to use a different route. Barricades are put in place in the area to direct drivers to alternate routes.
The construction is part of the Montana Department of Transportation’s 56th Roundabouts: King and Central Project. The project will build single-lane roundabouts at both intersections. The project’s goal is to improve traffic flow in the area and reduce the risk of serious accidents.
The construction of the new roundabout is led by Riverside Contracting Inc. The project is expected to be finished this winter. Traffic control measures are in place in the area.
Residents are advised to drive safely and slowly in the work zone, avoiding the fully-closed area for driver and worker safety. For your safety, be aware of reduced speed signs even when the construction work is paused.
