People have left stuffed animals and signs for their loved ones killed at this intersection. Now there’s another result — a stoplight, designed to stop more tragic accidents from happening. Drivers on Clarcona Ocoee Road now have to watch for the red light at Gaymar Drive.A signal was installed this month after a history of deadly crashes. In March of last year, five family members died in a crash on this stretch of Clarcona Ocoee Road. A few months before that, a mother of two kids was killed in the same spot in a similar crash. People who live in the area say cars would routinely speed around the bend, which was a hazard to people trying to turn left onto Gaymar.Orange County promised to study the intersection and they did, finally deciding to put up the light. They turned it on about two weeks ago.The goal is to slow down traffic and protect drivers trying to make the turn.The county says it took measures to speed up the process, getting the light installed a year quicker than normal.
