Flyover from northbound I-35 to northbound US 183 will close for up to a week in June

The flyover reopened in September 2021 after months of closures as TxDOT crews worked to reconstruct it.

AUSTIN, Texas — Last May, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) imploded the northbound Interstate 35 to northbound U.S. 183 flyover to begin an expansion project. The reconstructed roadway reopened in September.

Now, the flyover will close again for up to a week in June as crews make adjustments to "smooth the ride" on the flyover, according to a TxDOT spokesperson.

TxDOT said the project team will remove concrete from the driving surface, make adjustments to the bridge joint and then repave the roadway. The effort is in response to a dip that drivers have dealt with since the roadway reopened.

TxDOT also said in the statement that the I-35 from Rundberg Lane to US 290 East project is expected to be completed by the end of the summer, weather permitting.
