Pedestrian Killed On 34th Street N, Driver Runs Away: Police

All lanes on 34th Street North between 30th Avenue North and 35th Avenue North were closed Monday night and reopened Tuesday morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A car hit and killed a man at about 10:30 p.m. Monday on 34th Street North and 32nd Avenue North, a St. Petersburg police news release said.

Police said the driver got out of his car and ran away after they hit the man.

Witnesses made it difficult for the driver to leave the area by stopping him, police said.

Officers did arrest the driver on unnamed charges, police said.

According to police, the victim died at the crash location.

All lanes in both directions on 34th Street N were closed between 30th Avenue North and 35th Avenue North were closed until Tuesday morning for the investigation, authorities said.

Police Information Officer Yolanda Fernandez said additional details will be released Tuesday.
