This summer is going to be hot, and we don’t mean the temperature. Music superstars, legends, comedians and more will be performing in Knoxville in the coming months.

From Luke Bryan to "Weird Al" Yankovic, James Taylor, and PJ Morton, check out the biggest concerts and shows around town this summer.

Hairspray

June 3 — Tennessee Theatre

Bringing Baltimore and the '60s to Knoxville, the popular Broadway musical will have a three-day run downtown. There will be five performances, including two matinee shows.

Metalachi

June 7 — The Concourse

Metalachi is the “world’s first and only heavy metal mariachi band.” The Los Angeles band are classically trained musicians who also love rocking out to metal and have taken their unique sound across the country.

Shen Yun Performing Arts shows celebrate 5,000 years of Chinese culture and history.

June 7 — Tennessee Theatre

Celebrate China’s rich heritage and culture through artistic expression. This year’s theme: China before communism. Through 20 pieces of performance, Shen Yun brings back to life 5,000 years of battles, dynasties, oppression and spirituality.

Black Opry Revue

June 8 — Tennessee Theatre

Black country music artists and Black country fans have long been overlooked. Discover and enjoy the diversity within country, blues, folk and Americana music at the Black Opry Revue.

June 9 — Knoxville Civic Auditorium

“Funny is funny,” says comedian Jo Koy. After having to postpone a scheduled show due to a COVID surge, Koy’s world comedy tour is stopping in Knoxville. Writing material inspired by his Filipino-American family, Koy has performed around the world and received the “Stand-Up Comedian of the Year” award at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in 2018.

Three Dog Night

June 16 — Tennessee Theatre

The popular '70s rock band will be live in concert at the Tennessee Theatre. Three Dog Night earned 21 Billboard Top 40 chart hits between 1969-75, including “Mama Told Me Not to Come” and “Black and White.”

Town Mountain

June 17 — Bijou Theatre

Influenced by Bruce Springsteen, Chuck Berry, and the Rolling Stones, Town Mountain combines classic honky-tonk country and old school rock. The band is currently working on their seventh album.

June 22 — Thompson Boling Arena

Spend an evening with legendary singer-songwriter James Taylor. Known for hits like “How Sweet It Is” and “Fire and Rain,” Taylor is one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Alan Jackson

June 25 — Thompson-Boling Arena

Country superstar Alan Jackson is one of the biggest-selling musical artists of all time. He's bringing his “Last Call: One More for the Road” tour to town. Songs likely to be featured include “Gone Country” and “I Don’t Even Know Your Name.”

Bikini Kill

June 27 — Mill & Mine

Bikini Kill, a pioneer in the Riot Grrrl movement, will take the Mill & Mine stage this June. Formed and disbanded in the '90s, this woman-led punk rock band reunited in 2019. Alternative rock group Hurry Up will be the opening act.

Blue Mother Tupelo performed at Market Square on Feb. 14, 2008 to lunch-goers and other fans on Market Square. The concert was to support Saving Little Hearts, a group devoted to raising awareness of children’s birth defects. Founder Brad Coulter has a 5-year-old son born with a heart defect. Blue Mother Tupelo

July 1 — Jig & Reel

Ricky and Micol Davis are coming back home. The blue southern soul and roots rock duo Blue Mother Tupelo began performing in 1995 and will be returning to one of their first performance venues.

Windy Hill Farm and Preserve Summer Concert Series

July 1 — October 29

The working farm and hunting lodge in Loudon is expanding as an all-inclusive boutique leisure resort and has launched a summer concert series to celebrate featuring Cruz Contreras (The Black Lillies), Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters, Tyler Ramsey and Carl Broemel, and many others.

The series of concerts kicks off on the weekend of July 1-2 and will continue through October.

Other artists scheduled to perform throughout the summer include: Jill Andrews, Caroline Spence, Erick Baker, Chatham County Line, and The Steel Wheels. These concert dates and additional artists are to be announced at a later date.

July 14 — Bijou Theatre

Country, blues, jazz…it’s all the same thing to Jimmie Vaughan. “It's American music,” the four-time Grammy winning country artist said. “I want to bring it together; it comes from the same place." The singer and guitarist is known for his signature style and songs “Six Strings Down,” “Family Style” and “Just A Little Bit.”

STRFKR

July 23 — Mill & Mine

The indie rock band from Portland, Oregon, will stop in Knoxville. Psychedelic indie rock band The Undercover Dream Lovers, and psychedelic artist Das Kope are also scheduled to appear.

Robert Earl Keen

July 27 — Tennessee Theatre

Robert Earl Keen is a lover of music and performing and has no plans to slow down any time soon. Known for his roots music, his albums and live performances also incorporates other genres and styles like country, folk, bluegrass, and rock.

Cutthroat Shamrock

 August 12 — Barley's Taproom

Combine the speed of bluegrass with the energy of punk rock, and you get Appalachian punk: Cutthroat Shamrock’s niche genre. The Irish punk band Katie’s Randy Cat will also perform.

August 17 — Tennessee Theatre

The famed musical satirist is getting personal. The five-time Grammy winner will perform an intimate set of original non-parody songs. Actor and comedian Emo Philips will open the show as a special guest.

Amy Grant is one of the first Christian contemporary artists to become a mainstream sensation, hitting No. 1 on the pop charts and earning a platinum record. She has sold over 30 million albums worldwide in her more than 30-year career.

August 19 — Thompson-Boling Arena

The country superstar and “American Idol” judge is hitting the road. His “Raised Up Right” tour will feature songs like “That’s My Kind of Night” and “Country Girl (Shake It for Me).” Riley Green, Mitchell Tenpenny and DJ Rock will also make appearances.

Little River Band

August 27 — Tennessee Theatre

Eagles founding member Glenn Frey once referred to Little River Band as “the best singing band in the world.” The '70s and '80s chart-topping rock band will perform hits like “Help Is On Its Way” and “Reminiscing.”

Snail Mail

August 27 — Mill & Mine

The 22-year-old indie rock guitarist and singer-songwriter released her second album in 2021. Indie rock artists Hotline TNT and Momma will also perform.
