After four years of operation, a Louisville barbecue restaurant is closings its doors.

Porkland BBQ, a restaurant operated by Portland nonprofit Love City, will close at 2519 Cecilia St. at the end of the week. Owners Shawn and Inga Ardin wrote on Facebook that the property where Porkland is located is not zoned to be a restaurant.

"Unfortunately, this will be our last week operating as a restaurant," they wrote. "However, we are happy to announce that under our current zoning, we can continue to love on our neighbors by hosting a fundraiser on Fridays that will include barbecue and fish."

The restaurant originally opened in 2016. Starting Friday, Porkland will be open for Friday fundraisers from 11 am to 7 p.m. Otherwise, it will operate as a catering facility only.

"We are in high hopes that we will continue to see you on Fridays, showing the same love you have given us over the last several years," the post read. "None of this would be possible without you, and what you have built."

As a restaurant, Porkland BBQ served entrees like fish, pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwiches, churched-up tater tots, smoked sausage and rib tips ($6), salads ($8), $1 wings on Wednesdays and various tacos ($5-$6 for two). There were also sides, street-style corn and a few $2 desserts. All proceeds from the restaurant went back to the community.

The post honored the "amazing relationships" made with neighbors from hosting community events, after school programs, a preschool and, most recently, Mighty Oak Academy, a private K-8 prep school.

"The future is bright, let's stay focused," they wrote. "So much more Love to come."
