While the danger of wildfires in Eastern Wisconsin has gone down over the past week, the danger is still high.
In the latest update from the Wisconsin DNR, they have reduced the area surrounding Manitowoc County, including Sheboygan and Fond du Lac Counties from a very high risk down to high risk.
The eastern and northern parts of the state do remain in the very high category, while everywhere south of Sheboygan County across the state is in the moderate category.
Residents are still encouraged to avoid outdoor burning for the time being, especially when the winds are high.
A wildfire can spread very quickly under those conditions.
So far this year, 411 wildfires have been reported and they have damaged more than 606 acres of land.
