Our news crew received several news tips Sunday that separate fires were burning in the mountain close to the Anthony Gap.

Smoke was visible near the Anthony Gap Sunday afternoon.

Our crew at the scene saw different fires burning along the mountainside.

Dona Ana County Fire Department stated they were assisting in the fire, according to Captain Arturo Herrera with Dona Ana County Fire Department.

The cause is under investigation.

"This is a fire in a remote area with limited impact on resources or values at risk," William Wight with the Bureau of Land Management in Las Cruces stated.

As of Monday afternoon, less than 30 acres were burned near the Anthony Gap, Wight stated.
