The Illinois Department of Public Health says that 23 Illinois counties are now rated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as having a medium COVID-19 community level. Kendall, and its surrounding counties, are all at medium level.

At medium level, it's recommended that the elderly or those at risk of severe outcomes from the virus wear a mask in indoor places and get their second booster shot if they are eligible.

IDPH Acting Director Amaal Tokars is urging the public not to be alarmed, but to be aware of the trend in COVID-19 cases and get vaccinated or get up-to-date on their vaccinations.
