The Catholic Diocese of Syracuse didn't release a direct statement on their position on the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v Wade but indicated a retweeted a statement from the Catholic Bishops of New York State which noted, that for pregnant women in need of help, the church will support them if carrying to term. The diocese was not able to comment to CNY Central to clarify their support but an organization connected to the church is already offering services.

Joseph's House is an organization dedicated to helping women with children and pregnant women who experience homelessness or housing insecurity.

Executive Direct, Bronson Kopp said, they help women regardless of their age, religious belief, marital, or immigration status.

Kopp said, "We're there to help clothe them and feed them and educate them and provide the care and the services they need so they can be successful, and hopefully we can help break that cycle."

Kopp said the organization is designed to help these women navigate and develop life skills, and provide financial support as well as public and mental health services. He added how important it is for these women to have mental health support and the organization hires counselors with money from their own pockets.

Kopp said, "We're providing real directed service when it's needed, where it's needed and immediate and the counseling involves a lot of things. it involves group therapy, group support classes, trauma recovery, art therapy."

Kopp said they are focused on providing support to the women and limiting the trauma that some of them go through throughout their pregnancy.

"We provide everything from food, clothing, baby gear, and anything that they need but that's just superficial. Those are, of course, immediate tangible needs but the bigger deeper stuff that we need to help provide is that love and support," said Kopp. "It's building that relationship with them to know that they're not alone and they don't need to try to figure this out without any resources."
