The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest at Liberty Park has been temporarily halted and contestants have been evacuated due to severe storms.
Follow the severe storms in real-time on The Mighty 990’s exclusive weather radar page.“Out of an abundance of caution and working closely with the authorities, the decision was made to temporarily evacuate the festival grounds and temporarily suspend admissions,” Memphis in May officials said in a statement.
Venue evacuations are extremely rare, but meteorologists were concerned about the dangers posed by the fast-moving storms.
