A 21-year-old man was hospitalized Monday afternoon after he was shot outside a residence near West Jolly Road, Lansing police said.

The man is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital, said Public Information Director Robert Merritt.

Officers were dispatched about 11:45 a.m. to a reported shooting in the 4200 block of West Jolly Road, Merritt said.

Upon arrival, they found the man outside the home with a gunshot wound. According to police, officers immediately began first-aid until Lansing Fire Department medics arrived before the man was transported to the hospital.

Merritt said officers spoke with witnesses at the scene and determined that the person who shot the 21-year-old had fled the scene prior to their arrival. No arrests have been made, but police believe that the two individuals "are known" to each other.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Lansing Police Department at 517-483-4600.
