Memeghini was booked on suspicion of various crimes, including assault with a deadly weapon, battery and resisting arrest, police said. Bail was set at $50,000.

Officers went to the location about 2 p.m. Thursday regarding an "attempted assault with a deadly weapon," police Lt. David Frazier said.

"The weapon used was a vehicle," Frazier said in a statement. "After the incident, the suspect entered his residence and refused to come out. Additional residents of the location were safely removed by officers on scene.

"The SWAT team was activated and responded to the location," Frazier said. "After several hours of trying to get the suspect to surrender, the SWAT Team was used to take the suspect into custody."

The investigation was ongoing, Frazier said. The location is across from the Newcomb Academy K-8 school in the El Dorado Park Estates neighborhood.
