A early-morning family dispute led to a woman being stabbed Wednesday but police said that her injuries are expected to be non-life threatening.

LBPD officers responded to a residence in the Saint Francis neighborhood on the 5700 block Orizaba Avenue at 2 a.m. Wednesday where they found a woman with stab wounds to her upper body, police said.

The stabbing came after the woman and a male relative got into an argument that escalated into violence, according to police.

Police did not say how the two are related but the woman was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her wounds while the male suspect fled from the house on foot before police arrived. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
