Lung cancer accounts for 13% of all cancers diagnosed in the U.S., but there’s a misconception that everyone diagnosed with lung cancer is or was a smoker, and that’s not true. Another misconception is that everyone diagnosed with lung cancer has a persistent cough or has experienced shortness of breath. But in its early stages, there are several unexpected signs not related to lung function, such as change in weight, balance problems, changes in eyesight, clubbed fingers and bone pain, among other things. Keep in mind that while none of these symptoms definitely mean that you have lung cancer, having several of them is concerning and you should consult your doctor.
