BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – St. Vincent de Paul’s Twelfth Annual Community Carving Contest is happening on Wednesday, November 24.
Community leaders are gathering for the contest which will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Some of the community leaders who are expected to attend include:
- Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome
- District Attorney Hillar Moore
- Major Reginald Brown
The 11th version of this local tradition happened in 2020.
Along with the turkey carving contest, St. Vincent de Paul is also providing details about feeding the poor and homeless on Thanksgiving Day.
Information about where those in need can go for a free meal on Thanksgiving Day can be found below:
“The Turkey Carving Contest helps our staff and volunteers prepare the turkeys we will serve to the poor and homeless on Thanksgiving Day. As we have for 40 years, we will serve a traditional holiday meal on Thanksgiving Day (to-go or limited seating) at two locations: (1) walk-thru and/or limited outside seating at our St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room located at 220 St. Vincent de Paul Place (from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and (2) drive-thru or limited inside seating for our Holiday Helpers services at the Raising Cane’s River Center (from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.).”
