Suspects, one of whom was armed, related to a recent homicide were taken into custody after a short pursuit that ended in Long Beach on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies began pursuing the suspects in a lifted pickup truck on the northbound 605 Freeway near the 91 Freeway in the Lakewood area about 2:15 p.m.
The pickup driver turned onto the eastbound 105 Freeway and briefly drove against oncoming traffic. The driver then exited onto surface streets but quickly got back on the southbound 605 Freeway.
The vehicle again exited the freeway and came to a stop in the area of Carson Street and Long Beach Towne Center at about 2:30 p.m.
The three suspects exited the vehicle, surrendered to sheriff’s deputies and were taken into custody without further incident. The center was reopened after sheriff’s deputies cleared the area a few hours later.
