Police say they’re looking for a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene of a deadly crash in North Long Beach earlier this month.

The crash happened back on Nov. 12 near the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, according to a news release from the Long Beach Police Department.

Around 6:22 p.m., a 72-year-old man was crossing Artesia Boulevard a little west of Atlantic Avenue when a dark Toyota Camry struck him, according to authorities.

The driver in the Camry fled before police arrived, and paramedics rushed the injured man to the hospital where he died a week later, police said.

Authorities identified him as David Bermudez, a Long Beach resident. Police said he was walking across Artesia Boulevard outside a crosswalk when the car struck him.

Police said there was no evidence the Camry’s driver was speeding. Police are still searching for the driver.

They asked anyone with information to contact Detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7355. Anonymous tips may be sent through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
