South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall softball junior outfielder Abby Wingo (Portland, Ore.) was recently selected from a competitive candidate pool to take part in a year-long Student-Athlete Mentoring Program through NBC Sports and the Women's Sports Foundation.

The program will include 20 student-athletes who will serve as mentees to NBC Sports employees that represent a diverse range of business functions including legal, human resources, marketing, digital, communications, operations, IT, finance, sales, and media production. The program will run from Nov. 17, 2021, through May 2022, with mentees engaging in events and webinars focused on career development, network-building, personal branding, communication, interviewing skills, and navigating the workplace.

"I am incredibly honored to have been selected for the Women's Sports Foundation and NBC Mentorship program. Through my three years here at The Hall so far, I have had a lot of amazing opportunities to further myself, both academically and athletically, both inside and outside the athletic department," Wingo said. "I am super excited to have been given this opportunity to learn and be mentored by some of the best professionals in the sports business. To even be in the same room as all of these amazing women and men is such an honor and I cannot wait to get started."

In total, student-athletes from 15 colleges and university across nine sports will learn from their respective NBC Sports mentors as they share their professional experience, insights and networks. In partnership, the Women's Sports Foundation will facilitate monthly learning sessions powered by Exos, a company that is a world leader in human performance, whose integrated coaching approach empowers people to ascend to new heights in work, sport, and life, and who focuses on proactive health and performance for elite athletes, businesses and the military.

"We are thrilled with the ongoing success of our Student-Athlete Mentoring Program, and are excited to continue expanding and reaching more young women as they prepare to enter the workplace," said Dr. Deborah Antoine, CEO of the Women's Sports Foundation. "We are proud to leverage our unique network in the sports industry to help young women achieve greater economic potential, and are grateful to NBC Sports for their partnership on this wonderful program."

Wingo, a leader on the diamond, has enjoyed success both on the field and in the classroom during her time at Seton Hall. A career .300 hitter in two seasons with the Pirates, Wingo is also a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team member. The Oregon-native is currently interning with Seton Hall Athletics' Pirate Blue Atheltic Fund in addition to serving as a softball representative for Seton Hall's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Wingo is also a member of the Business Leadership Center and Buccino Leadership Institute in the Stillman School of Business.

"Representing Seton Hall Softball through this program is amazing. I know opportunities like this do not come every day, so I am very grateful to have been selected to represent not only Seton Hall Softball and Seton Hall Athletics, but also the University as a whole," Wingo said. "I am excited to progress through this program as a representative of Seton Hall and am hopeful that this will help pave the way for more female athletes at Seton Hall to experience this awesome opportunity."
