Gunman arrested after shooting another man on CTA bus during robbery attempt

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police have a person in custody in connection with a shooting on a CTA bus Sunday night.

Police said it started as an attempted robbery around 10:30 p.m. on an eastbound CTA bus on 71st Street between State Street and Michigan Avenue.

The alleged robber pulled a gun on a 21-year old man but the 21-year old pulled his own gun in response and fired several shots but was shot in the chest by the alleged robber, according to police.

Both men got off the bus, with the the wounded victim being taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

The alleged robber was arrested about a block away.
