Security guard shot by man who had been escorted out of South Loop restaurant Sunday night

The man returned minutes after being thrown out of the restaurant in the 2200 block of South Michigan Avenue and shot a guard standing outside, police said.

A man shot a security guard after he was escorted out of a South Loop restaurant Sunday night.

Security had escorted the man from a restaurant in the 2200 block of South Michigan Avenue just before 9 p.m., Chicago police said.

The man returned minutes later, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, and shot a guard standing outside, police said.

The guard suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder and elbow, police said. He was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition.

There was no one in custody.
