Firefighters with the Hygiene Volunteer Fire Department are hoping to teach people about a proposed mill levy increase, while giving them the chance to see fire equipment and the station on Saturday.

The open house will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the fire house, 7523 Hygiene Road in Hygiene. There will be snacks and the chance to see fire equipment and talk with firefighters. Participants will also be able to learn about ballot issue 6A, a proposed mill levy increase that fire officials say will provide the fire district with more resources.

The event is free and open to the public. To learn more, people can visit Hygiene Fire Department’s website at hygienefire.org.
