Onondaga Co. Executive McMahon reports two deaths, predicts decline in COVID-19 cases

Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon provided a COVID-19 update via Twitter on Friday.

According to his tweet, the county lost two residents to COVID-19 this week, two women: one in her 80s and the other in her 60s with underlying conditions.

McMahon also shared that the county had 145 new cases today, down from 304 last Friday.

He says the county currently has 1174 active cases; of those, 23% were contracted through household contacts and another 13% were contracted during travel.

McMahon says there were 794 cases so far this week with 11 new hospitalizations. 91% of hospitalized patients are unvaccinated.

According to McMahon, cases week over week will likely decline.

There are currently 89 residents in the hospital and 23 in the ICU.

McMahon also shared that he is planning to hold a briefing on Monday, Oct. 25, to provide an update on vaccination plans.
